DOG
based on the stories of Oleg Sentsov
Director: Honored Artist of Ukraine Vadym Sikorskyi
Everyone had a childhood. And, for the most part, these are sincere and direct stories about the everyday, but with a clear understanding that something extremely important is happening there. All the stories are about life: childhood and adolescence, adulthood. About parents, relatives, childhood friends. About how a child wants a dog, and it becomes a little person’s best friend. But as the years go by and less and less time is left for the dog, childhood ends. Through these childhood events, the morals and dignity of a teenager and later an adult are formed. This is practically the process of forming a program of attitude to life, to the state, to society, to nature, to animals, to history in the human soul. The texts in the play are selected autobiographical stories by Oleg Sentsov from the collection “Life”. These stories explain in many ways how the author grew up, how he became independent, why he ended up on the Maidan, why he did not accept the annexation of Crimea and fought against the occupiers.
