Night on the meadow
Oleksandr Oles
Director: Serhii Pavlyuk (Kherson)
Hutsulshchyna, located in the depths of the Carpathian Mountains, is a land where the thick, lush meadow grasses rival the beauty of the majestic ancient spruces. It is a region shrouded in legends. In the Carpathian wilderness, the powerful forces of nature intertwine fairy tale and reality as if in a dream. Young shepherd Ivan enters this magical world when he first goes to a mountain pasture, which becomes for him a place where fate is decided and the truth is revealed. Having fallen in love with the forest beauty Mavka, Ivan cannot forget his earthly love for his bride Mariyka. In his struggle to reconcile these feelings, he tries to renounce his human essence, which constantly reminds him of how difficult it is to make a choice. Additionally, the Forest Devil is in love with Mavka and does not lose his feelings for her until the end. Mythical heroes and earthly creatures are united by a tragic love triangle, leading some to death and others to the light that eternally gives new life. Filled with the magic of nature and the poetry of love, the world of mythical creatures and foresters borders on the realities of life, where those who do not appreciate what they have may lose everything in the search for something better. The atmosphere of a fairy-tale half-sleep in the mountain freshness of the Carpathians is created by authentic folk songs and passionate dances that accompany the stage performance.
